Social Media Moms at Disney…an itinerary

The excitement is building for the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration on Feb. 10th through 12th. I (through my MomSelect arm) am proud to partner with Disney to offer a fun-filled and busy 3 days for Social Media Moms and their families. I’m looking forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new friends, too.

With a packed conference, I hope the itinerary below will help you pack and plan, especially if you are bringing family members with you. You can’t beat Disney as your  host with so many activities planned for the family while moms are in conference sessions. Looking forward to seeing you at Disney!

Wednesday, February 10th – Disney Social Media Moms Celebration Begins.

FAMILIES ON THEIR OWN UNTIL 6:30 P.M. DINNER.

Check in at Disney’s Polynesian Resort.

4:50 p.m. Attendees board buses at Polynesian for special presentation at ESPN Sports Complex. (Attendee only)

5:00 p.m. – Buses for families depart at 5:00 p.m. for Sports Complex.

6:30 p.m. – Dinner at ESPN Wide World of Sports (Attendee and family)

Details –Conference attendees and their families will be hosted at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex where they will get a sneak peek of the ESPN makeover.  Conference attendees will hear a special presentation on What’s New and What’s Next for Disney Parks in the coming years.  They’ll be attending this presentation with media from all over the country.  The families will be participating in fun activities while the attendees are at the presentation.  Afterwards, everyone reunites for a spectacular dinner – “tailgate” style!

Thursday, February 11th

FAMILIES ON THEIR OWN IN THE MORNING WHILE MOMS ATTEND EVENTS.
7:20 a.m. Bus transportation will be provided from Polynesian Resort. (Attendee only)
8:00 – 9:30 a.m. Breakfast at Epcot with Guy Kawasaki (Attendee only).

10:00 Ceremony honoring Volunteer Families from around the world (Attendee only)

Details — Conference attendees and media will attend a ceremony honoring Volunteer Families from around the world. This will be a one-of-a-kind event not to be missed!  The event is for attendees and media only and will be held in World Showplace, lasting approx. 45 minutes.

Lunch (Attendee and family)  On own time with meal coupon provided.

(OPTIONAL AFTERNOON ACTIVITY FOR MOMS TOGETHER WITH THEIR FAMILY) Families will use existing Disney transportation to get to theme parks. It is recommended that families go to Epcot for OPTIONAL volunteer events from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to participate in a volunteer event at World Showplace at Epcot to help provide food to needy families.  It is a come-and-go as you can time frame.

6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. – Private dinner and live entertainment at Epcot (Attendee and family).  This will be a mix-in with the media in attendance for the day’s big events.

Friday, February 12th
MOMS ATTEND CONFERENCE ALL MORNING AND INTO THE LATE AFTERNOON –  FAMILIES ON THEIR OWN UNTIL DINNER
8:30 a.m. – 9:15 a.m. Breakfast at conference center at Disney’s Contemporary Resort (Attendee only; use monorail system to arrive at Contemporary by 8:30 a.m.)

9:15 a.m. – Welcome and beginning of conference sessions including speakers: Maxine Clark of Build-a-Bear; Chris Brogan author and social media guru, Maryellen Hooper – nationally known comedian, plus more great surprise speakers and some awesome Disney door prizes to be given away.  Conference attendees must be present to win the door prizes.
Lunch –  At conference center at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. (Attendee only)
4:30pm – Conference wraps up, use monorail system to return to Polynesian Resort.
6:00pm – Dinner at Hollywood Studios (Attendee and family).

Details — Bus transportation begins at 6:00 p.m. from Polynesian Resort to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for private dinner and dance party at Toy Story Mania until 10 p.m. (Bus transportation will be provided back to Polynesian on a continual basis starting at 7:00pm or guests can use main transportation system.)

FAMILY INFORMATION

All family breakfasts and lunches are on their own. Dinners will INCLUDE THE ENTIRE FAMILY.

Transportation to events: Anyone who has been to Walt Disney World knows how big the property is – in fact, did you know it is twice the size of Manhattan?!   Disney will be providing transportation to some of the events for the conference.  Please see the schedule below. An updated schedule will be provided with the welcome packet but here is the current schedule that can help with planning:

Bus transportation for conference attendees to Sports Complex at 4:50pm (times may vary slightly)
Bus transportation for family members to Sports Complex at 4:30pm  (times may vary slightly)
Bus transportation for everyone from Sports Complex back to Polynesian will run continuous starting at 6:00pm (approximately)

Credentials: IMPORTANT!
A valid credential is required to all the dinners and all the conference events.  Credentials will be provided in the welcome packets that will be available at the Polynesian Resort on Wednesday, Feb. 10.  There will be a special Hospitality Suite at the resort that day where conference attendees can pick up the packets with the credentials.  Credentials cannot be replaced, so make sure to keep them close.

Park Tickets
Tickets provided are 7-day Park Hopper tickets valid from Feb. 10 – 17.   The tickets will be available on Wed. Feb. 10 with the welcome packets at the Hospitality Suite at the Polynesian Resort.  Opening time of Hospitality Suite TBD.

Additional Information:
Dress Code and  Suggestions:  Dress comfortably.  Wear comfortable shoes. Many of the events are mix-ins with media so be aware you may be on camera at some point. Something to keep in mind as you pack. Suggested attire includes nice jeans, cotton or khaki pants and a few nice tops.  Nothing “dressy” is required or necessary. February temperatures can vary greatly. Monitor the weather stations or websites for weather forecasts, and bring a sweater or jacket for cooler weather (especially at night).

  1. Great itinerary and really packed. Wish I’d known about the 7day park hopper. I would have extended the stay longer (Monday is a day off school for us)!

    Dumb question — for food allergy issues, follow up with the Disney travel planning people?

  2. Thanks to you and everyone else that worked on this event. We are so excited and can not wait to get there. Heading down early with the kids and hubby to have more DIsney magic time.

  7. Sounds like a fun event – love the idea of it being family friendly. Ultimately I decided against going since my husband wouldn’t be able to make it though. Hope y’all have a blast!
